Britney Spears tour getups, part 1
When Britney Spears announced that she will go on tour again, I wanted to jump up and down. Brit is back!
One point which got mixed reviews were Brit’s circus-themed costumes, designed by the famous Canadian twins, Dan and Dean Caten of the Dsquared.
“We wanted to create something much more provoking and indecent…something animalistic and primal,” the duo said of their inspiration, which, although based on the Circus seems to have more than a little in common with the lady herself.
Some people love it, others hate it. So now, I would like to present the highly-criticized wardrobe of the Circus ringleader herself, Britney Spears.
All right, so let’s kick off with this number:
Have you seen a sexier ring leader before? Bet not. Brit took to the stage in an intricate red jacket with gold piping and button detail, complete with huge long haired shoulder pads, and a black mess of a headdress. She looks like she has taken on the style of Lady Gaga, with no trousers and big –erm- knickers.
I think this outfit works, though I’m afraid that someone will call PETA and have her designers arrested for the monkey-like fur on the shoulder pads. And what’s with the headdress?! Thankfully, she ditched that thing later on. Next!
Alright, this is one of her outfits that made me ask what the designers were thinking. For her song, Radar, Brit comes from above, suspended inside a frame, much like that of a picture frame, where supposedly, she’s a tattooed woman.
Up close, the outfit looks kinda nice, with the intricate designs over the skin-toned bodysuit. But from afar, it looks quite a mess. And what’s with the swirly black things over her nipples? This outfit made her look chunky and out of proportion.
The blindfold though, is quite the sadistic touch. With this outfit, Brit performs some aerial acrobatics. Nice!
