I’ve always thought of celebrities opting to wear black in a formal event as too safe and really unimaginative. However, seeing Anne Hathaway’s look during the 63rd Annual Tony Awards last Sunday, safe and unimaginative would definitely be the last words to cross my mind.

Walking the red carpet at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, the actress has everybody’s eyes and attention with her strapless black Oscar de la Renta Fall 2009 dress paired with simple jewels and her hair swept neatly.

I actually love the details on this frock’s skirt as it did give the look a delicate and charming feel. This kind of frock is something Anne can pull off without trying; it seems like it was made with her in mind already. I so love this look and I’m sure many would agree to this.

A definite hit!

While most of the stars who attended the “The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion” Costume Institute Gala last Monday (April 4) chose to go fashion all the way with their enormous gowns and shining shimmering frocks, these batch of Hollywood personalities we have here opted to be a bit different. Opting to display their long and shapely legs, these are the stars who chose to be in cocktails at Monday’s event.

Anne Hathaway

Kicking off this batch of deviant (as they were) celebrities is Anne Hathaway who is just sensational in her eggplant Marc Jacobs pleated dress. There is just no way I am not making this look a first on this list of celebs. Anne was totally fierce as she owns this look. With the actress’ fragile and ‘virginal’ look, I really didn’t think she can pull off this look. Two thumbs up for Anne here.

Rachel Bilson

Contrary to Anne’s sensational to the highest level cocktail dress, Rachel Bilson was a bit off with her Brian Atwood dress. Nothing against the look really, I love its sexiness going with Rachel’s sleek hair, the problem I have here is that it was as if the actress is just attending some premiere night or some party. I’d like to see some effort here actually.

Gisele Bundchen

Talk about a show of long and shapely legs, supermodel Gisele Bundchen did nail it with her jaw-dropping Donatella Versace spaghetti-strapped frock paired with blue pumps. Oh-lalalalalah, huh?!

Isabeli Fontana

If there’d be an award for Golden Girl of the Night, model, Isabeli Fontana would no doubt be bagging it. Wearing a sexy metallic lemon frock with matched shoes, the Brazilian model was just dazzling.

With these four captivating the public, I guess it pays to be a deviant sometimes.

If you think that most celebrities are just self-centered individuals, then you have to count Anne Hathaway out of that.

Giving her moral support to fashion designer Valentino Garavani for the latter’s induction into the Rodeo Drive Walk Of Style in Beverly Hills, California yesterday, Academy Award Best Actress nominee was looking fresh and radiant wearing Valentino Pre-Fall 2009 belted champagne and pink floral satin dress and nude peep-toe Louboutins.

Giving a close-up look on Anne, who wouldn’t just be mesmerized with her beauty? Like all men would probably be in awe and girls like me would just be green in envy. Why the actress’ beauty is like a poetry in motion (okay that’s too Shakespeare of me). I love the minimal make-up, – it’s as if she’s in for a make-up ad campaign – her hair was simply done, and of course who would miss that mesmerizing smile.

On Kate…

Showing off her sexy side, the actress opted for a high-waisted Temperley London leather skirt and frilled top. Finishing the look, she dons on Kara Ross earrings and ring and a Jennifer Meyer necklace.

On Anne…

Choosing to go charming and demure contrary to her onscreen rival, the Golden Globe awardee puts on a black side-tie top, skinny J Brand jeans, Sara Weinstock bracelets and black patent booties.

So who put on a better fashion statement? – Well I say it’s got to be Kate. Although it wasn’t really that stellar, compared to Anne, Kate’s much much better.

Since appearing as Mia Thermopolis in Disney’s The Princess Diaries, I can honestly say that I am an Anne Hathaway fan.

However, since I promised for the New Year that Celebrity Fashion Watch would be nothing but an honest blog about celebrity fashion, I guess I wouldn’t let my being a fan affect my opinion on Anne’s look during the 20th anniversary of the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala in California.

Clad in a body-hugging strapless black frock matched with a pair of sexy black heels, I honestly do not think that this is a great look for Anne to start the year.

Although it isn’t something I will call as ugly, but it isn’t stellar, too. Her hair definitely didn’t match the look while the frock made her look skinnier.

Too bad, it’s supposed to be her night for winning the Desert Palm Achievement Award for Acting.

I have always loved Anne Hathaway!

Whether she is in a red carpet or just plain walking down the streets, Anne Hathaway never fails to mesmerize me (and I guess most people) with her casual and down-to-earth aura (at least that is how she looks to me).

Fashion wise, the actress may not be as daring as Nicole Richie or Sarah Jessica Parker, but she definitely has that innate elegance you just can’t resist.

Walking down the sidewalks of West Hollywood, Anne goes casual layering a fitted blazer over an embellished T-shirt matched with cropped jeans and flats.

See what I mean with her ‘innate’ elegance? Ann doesn’t actually have to wear all those signature frocks and glittering jewels to stand in the crowd for just being her, she already stands out.

She’s got the class, the grace, and the face that could definitely launch a thousand ships. It’s no wonder why actress Anne Hathaway has held everybody’s breaths as she attended the 46th New York Film Festival premiere of “The Class” last night (September 26).

Clad in a tube top black-and-white printed body hugging gown, Anne was indeed a picture of Hollywood beauty and glamour. Well that is if not for the tube top that showed her bare, skinny-looking, and uneven tone shoulders.

Anyway, with Anne’s innate charm, maybe we can forgive that little flaw.

“The Class” is a Laurent Cantet film featuring an “actual classroom of outspoken, multiethnic teens from a tough Parisian junior high school. Teacher Francois Begaudeau, on whose autobiographical account this unsentimental film is based, plays himself.”

Hate too much grey lines? Then I guess you would have some change of mind to learn that these black and white strips from a newspaper can make fabulous fashion statements like Anne Hathaway did.

Yup, attending the premiere of her latest flick, Rachel Getting Married the 25-year-old actress quite made a statement with her ruffled up newspaper Oscar de la Renta design frock. Though a little washed out with just the black and white, it still is undeniable how Anne pulled off the look well.

Rachel Getting Married is a film directed by Jonathan Demme that bills Anne Hathaway, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Academy Award nominee Debra Winger. The film which is set for a release on October 3, has also been showcased at the Toronto Film Festival.

One star. One day. Two looks.

Now I sure missed doing a post or this category, and so I am bringing it back to you.

Today, our feature is a celebrity that I’ve always thought to have such great beauty, charm, elegance, and class all in one. – Anne Hathaway.

Yup, the 25-year old actress attended two events at the 65th Venice Film Festival yesterday wearing two different looks. Fortunately and unfortunately, one look is a hit while the other seems to be a fashion miss.

Arriving at the “Rachel Getting Married” photocall at the Piazzale del Casino in Venice, Anne was definitely captivating in her Lela Rose frock. Accenting her tiered dress with a black patent bow belt, Bulgari jewels and sequined Louboutin peep-toes, I am just impressed.

But while her look during the press event showed the blossoming her, Anne’s look at the movie’s premiere at the Sala Grande quite presented otherwise.

Really, what’s with those enormous flowers that seem to hinder her from walking comfortably?!

Anne Hathaway’s red and chic look yesterday has been a real hit as it also made it to InStyle’s Look of the Day, People’s Style Watch, and E!’s Fashion Police. But as she changed outfit for the movie’s premiere, will she still get the approval of these fashion watchdogs?

Clad in white and beige lace gown at the Warner Moderno Cinema in Rome last night, Anne actually got me torn deciding if this one’s a hit or a miss.

Hello everyone! Here we go again with another post about which celebrity look looks best. Today it’s Anne Hathaway’s turn to be on the limelight.

Probably one of the prettiest faces in Hollywood, I’ve always believed Anne Hathaway would always look good in whatever dress she would wear. So I thought of comparing two of her recent looks and find out which of them looks best on this Hollywood darling.

On the left side of the photo is Anne attending the American Museum of the Natural History’s annual Winter Dance clad in an asymmetrical beaded taupe frock. The dress’ cut is actually flattering to the actress’ body with emphasis on her beautiful shoulder. What I don’t like is that long wishy-washy sleeves; it looks too distracting.

On the other hand, sporting on a sexy black gown at the Human Right’s Annual Gala in Century, the 25-year-old actress is just breathtaking. This look sure is a winner. It’s simple, it’s classic, and oh-so beautiful.

The red carpet would probably be one of the highlights at the 80th Academy Awards; stars of glittered more with their signatured gowns and expensive jewels. However, with among the varied colors and designs of these frocks, one became supreme among the stars. – One-strapped gowns.

Whether they want to feel and look like a goddess or not, stars like Katherine Heigl, Hilary Swank, Anne Hathaway, Amy Adams, and Diane Lane definitely looked so enchanting with their different versions of the one-strapped.

Venus? Pandora? Which star fits whom? Who looked best, who looked worst?

I know all of you have your own bets for the best and worst dressers, but point is, these single-strapped flowing gowns sure are making big in the Red Carpet.
