66th Golden Globe Awards: The Last Batch

Friday, January 16th, 2009

Here we are in our last batch of celebrities who graced the red carpet of the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards last Sunday (January 11).

Christina Applegate

True to the event’s title, Christina Applegate is a golden lady at the Golden Globes with her golden gown from Roberto Cavalli paired with a dramatic Lorraine Schwartz necklace and Jimmy Choo heels.

Olivia Wilde

Opting for a flowy lavendar Reem Acra gown the House M.D. star was a refreshing sight at the big night.

But whether this one is a hit or a miss is something I am not sure of. Could be that while I am a fan of the lavender gown, Olivia’s presence was quite gloomy and dull.

Hayden Panettiere

Now this one’s a miss for me: Hayden Panettiere’s deep purple Gianfranco Ferre gown.

Sorry H, but the gown didn’t bring the best in you; it didn’t give any shape and there’s nothing really spectacular in the look.

America Ferrera

Donning on an asymmetrical, cocktail-length style and Jimmy Choo heels, the Ugly Betty star was one of those celebs that didn’t quite impressed me with their looks.

For one, America’s frock looked so heavy in the eye it added more weight in her.

Megan Fox

Stepping the red carpet with her curve-hugging dress from Ralph Lauren’s spring 2009 collection, Megan Fox spelled h-o-t at the event. Ohhh lala….

Blake Lively

One of the night’s presenters, Blake Lively walked the red carpet wearing a trailing gown by Nina Ricci embroidered with iridescent sequins.

One thing that’s quite disturbing with this look though (on this particular photo), - the footwear! You think it matched the gown?!

Vanessa Hudgens

Vibrant in her Alberta Ferretti gown, Vanessa Hudgens arrived at the Golden Globes hand-in-hand with her beau, Zac Efron.

Miley Cyrus

Probably the youngest star to walk the night’s red carpet, Miley Cyrus arrived like a goddess wearing a flowy white Marchesa gown with gold embroidery and long, loose curls. Dazzling!

Beyoncé, Heidi Klum, Isla Fisher, Jennifer Lopez, and Salma Hayek @ the 66th Golden Globe Awards

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

We’ve finished the first three batches of our 66th Golden Globe Awards coverage. Now, let’s take a look at the other fashion statements during last Sunday’s event.

Beyoncé Knowles

Showing off her curves with her silver-sequinned ivory gown by Elie Saab, B sure proved her good taste for fashion. Her marriage to Jay-Z seems to have given her that glowing aura.

Heidi Klum

From her royalty-like look last year, the Project Runway host switched in a more comfortable look with her vintage Galliano dress and strappy sandals.

Well if I will have to choose which look I love best, I think I’ll choose this one. Well basically I think one is refreshing in the eye and kind of deviates you from the heavy volumed gowns of the other attendees.

Isla Fisher

Looking radiant in her red hair, the funny actress arrived the red carpet last Sunday clad in a flesh-tone long fitted gown.

So okay, I love the locks that complimented her features well but I’m not really sure of her gown. Could be that I’m not really in to earth color frocks. But overall, I’ll give this look a so-so nod.

Jennifer Lopez

Talk about red carpet seduction and glitter, Jennifer Lopez sizzled the red carpet with her plunging gold Marchesa dress and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. If only all post pregnancies can give you this kind of body…

Looking at this photo of JLo I couldn’t help but ponder, are metallics still in?!

Salma Hayek

Wrapping up this batch of Golden Globe looks is glamour girl, Salma Hayek in her creamy vanilla Dior dress.

Well while I have no question with Salma’s glamour, I just think this look bores me to death!

Eva Mendes, Penelope Cruz, Sandra Bullock, Eva Longoria, and Drew Barrymore @ the 66th Golden Globe Awards

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

The 66th Golden Globe Awards has convened Hollywood’s biggest and brightest stars in their best of the best looks. And so you don’t expect we’d settle for only two posts about the celebrities’ looks at the event, right?!

So here we are keeping the ball rolling…

Eva Mendes

We start our third Golden Globe post with Eva Mendes’s white Dior dress and bold collar necklace.

Hit or miss?

Well frankly, I would’ve considered this a hit had it not been for that gigantic ribbon on the dress. It kinda makes Eva look like a kangaroo with her joey in white. I just don’t get the concept of this gown.

Penelope Cruz

I have one word to give on Penelope Cruz’s pale silk chiffon column dress from Armani Prive. – Elegant! And I guess that would some up everything I have to say with this look.

Sandra Bullock

But while I super adore Penelope’s look at the event, Sandra Bullock’s is just the opposite.

I don’t know, but her ruffled flamenco gown from Christian Dior just isn’t right for me. And although she tries to save her look with a chunky snake bracelet and turquoise clutch (that didn’t even match with the whole look), it still isn’t enough.

‘Guess Sandra ought to go back to mix-and-match 101.

Eva Longoria

Looking ravishing (yet bloated) in her red Reem Acra gown, Eva Longoria was game enough to poke fun at her form fitting gown, saying, “I’m tired of sucking in. I’ve been here for one minute and I’m exhausted!”.

If for that statement, I’d give Eva Longoria thumbs up.

Drew Barrymore

Finally, I will end this batch of Golden Globe attendees with what I think is the best look in this batch. – Drew Barrymore’s John Galliano for Dior gown matched with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and Roger Vivier satin sandal.

This is one look I’d really say as breathtaking. The actress definitely is floating in elegance.

Amy Adams, Renee Zellweger, Debrah Messing, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Demi Moore @ the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards

Monday, January 12th, 2009

This is it! This is really is it!

Here is the second batch of our 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards fashion coverage.

Amy Adams

Kicking off this batch is second-time nominee, Amy Adams who showed sheer glamour and elegance with her sweeping black Oscar de la Renta gown matched with dramatic leaf earrings from Lorraine Schwartz.

Renee Zellweger

Jaw-dropping. I guess that sums up my reaction with Renee’s look last night.

Skipping a gown in favor of separates from favorite designer, Carolina Herrera, the actress added Louboutin pumps and Verdura Maltese cross cuffs to her sheer black organza blouse and silk skirt.

What I cannot decide on though is whether my jaw dropped because I was totally impressed with the look or I was just bewildered with disbelief.

Debra Messing

Another just okay look of the night is Debra Messing’s sapphire ruffled gown that seems to be in contrast with her red locks.

Well yeah, it’s just okay. I think I’ve seen this look a million times so it didn’t really surprise nor thrilled me a bit.

Maggie Gyllenhaal

While Debra Messing’s look is just okay, I’m afraid to say Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Lanvin animal print gown is a sure miss.

Really, the first word that came to my mind when I saw this photos is an automatic ugly. I’m sorry but I just can’t seem to find something stellar or special with this look. The actress looked like she’s been wrapped in a piece of curtain.

Demi Moore

Wrapping this batch of Golden Globe looks, is Demi Moore who was radiant in her pale apricot halter gown. Demi really is looking younger and younger everyday. If I may say, she looks more refreshing than her daughter, Rumer.

More and more to come!

Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz, Anne Hathaway, Anna Paquin, and Kate Winslet @ the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards

Monday, January 12th, 2009

The date is January 11, 2009. The place is at Beverly Hilton Hotel in California. The event? What else but the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards.

With Hollywood’s brightest and biggest stars attending this event, the Golden Globe Awards must be one of the most spectacular nights in the world.

And when it comes to celebrities and red carpets, Celebrity Fashion Watch will always be on the look out for the stars’ fashion hits and misses.

So who wowed and unwowed us? Here is the first batch of our special Golden Globe coverage.

Angelina Jolie

The Best Actress nominee for “Changeling” definitely dazzled at the event not just because she was arm-in-arm with one of the night’s hottest man [Brad Pitt] but because her silver Versace dress brought out the best in her.

What I like about Angie when it comes to dressing up for the red carpet is that she doesn’t seem to overdo it nor try too hard to really standout; it just happens.

Cameron Diaz

From Angie’s simply cut dress, let’s go to Cameron Diaz’s pink taffeta Chanel Haute Couture dress matched with a Chanel Fine Jewelry diamond Camelia dome ring and Chanel clutch.

Hit or miss? Well I say, okay. Cam still has that elegance in her yet I wasn’t really stunned nor surprised by the look. Not ugly but not too great, too. Just okay…

Anne Hathaway

Classic and elegant. One just couldn’t help but be in awe with the Best Actress nominee’s beauty. Clad in a royal blue Armani Prive gown embroidered with Swarovski crystals, Anne Hathaway has sure put herself in my Best Red Carpet Look list.

Anna Paquin

Another just okay look for the evening is Anna Paquin’s Herve Leroux gown. That’s it. Nothing more, nothing less.

Kate Winslet

The Best Actress winner opted for subtle elegance in her strapless black Yves Saint Laurent gown with waist bow detailing and Chopard gems.

Now this is the kind of simplicity I’d never call boring. I love this.
