Ashley Greene nails it

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Arrivals at the Julie and Julia special screening

After going bold in colors at the Comic-Con 2009, Ashley Greene goes daring this time showing off some sexy cleavage and hot legs.

Attending the “Julie and Julia” special screening, the Twilight babe donned on a Brian Reyes sleeveless double stitch dress matched with a pair of Jimmy Choo Verity sandals.

I am not really a huge fan of exposed zippers, but this one here featured it in a way that it’s edgy and classy. Besides, when it hugs Ashley’s figure this way – like it spells H-O-T – who are we to argue?

Undoubtedly, this look is much, much better than her Comic Con style. Although the latter took my attention with its color, this one hit it for its presence.

Amy Adams tries to pull off a white

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Julie & Julia Los Angeles Premiere

I’ve always seemed to be a sucker over white frocks; their classy, their chic, and just hard to miss. However, I guess there are just some white frocks that are quite hard to pull off.

Take for example this white RM by Roland Mouret Aphrodite dress actress Amy Adams wore at the “Julie & Julia” Los Angles premiere.

Paired with nude suede shoes, the look would’ve been a hit if only the bodice would appear to fit Amy well. Of course this can also be due posture or what, but the point is, it really didn’t seem to look great on her.

And yeah, with this kind of style, white may not be its best shade (especially when it’s hit by light). Something darker may be.

Oh well, bottom line here is that I expected something better than this from Amy.

Funny People Los Angeles Premiere: The Looks

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

While Adam Sandler is the star in the 2009 comedy-drama film, Funny People, for its Los Angeles premiere, it is actually the women attendees that took most of the red carpet’s limelight. Let’s go check out the looks of film’s premiere last night.

Funny People Los Angeles Premiere

Okay, I know I just said stars who took the limelight in the red carpet but I guess Anna Farris’s isn’t exactly that. Not-so-stellar in the event with her white minidress, Anna kept her look simple as she attends the film’s premiere.

Funny People Los Angeles Premiere

Talk about stellar look, Leslie Mann definitely was a big hit at last night’s event with her vibrant fuchsia tube-top frock with matching clutch and shoes. Oh lovely, just lovely!

Funny People Los Angeles Premiere

I actually do not have any issue with Elizabeth Banks’s little black dress accented at the shoulder, I, however, have some concern with her hair and makeup. Really, what’s with the messy hair and make-up that do not seem to match with the frock?

Funny People Los Angeles Premiere

Sexy in pink? Well that’s her! Jackie Johnson sure was one head-turner at the Funny People Los Angeles premiere with her oh-lala pink mini.

Funny People Los Angeles Premiere

Tubes seem to be a cliché, not to mention a safe choice, in the red carpets, so do we still wonder why Aubrey Plaza is with a yet-another sexy tube mini dress?

Funny People Los Angeles Premiere

Going on unconventional, Rashida Jones tops a striped bandage skirt and tank with a cutaway jacket and a chain necklace. Now this is fierce!

So, who do you think has got the best look here? I say it’s Leslie Mann for the glamour award and Rashida Jones for the you-rock award.

Emma Watson premieres and promotions looks

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

“Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince” is coming out in theaters here in the Philippines next Wednesday.

While I still would have to wait a few more days to catch this recent installment of the Harry Potter series, at least I would not have to wait any longer to catch the various looks that one of its main stars, Emma Watson donned while promoting the film.

Curious if she went sexy, daring, or glamorous? Well, let’s see…

Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince Movie Premiere In NYC

Mixing charm with class, the actress who plays Hermione Granger in the films walked the red carpet last Thursday clad in a Proenza Schouler Resort 2010 collection leather-topped halter dress and strappy sandals. Although I’m not really raving over the halter top, I’d say the overall effect of the frock was just age-appropriate complimenting the actress’ personality.

Emma Watson Visits The David Letterman Show In NYC

Emma Watson visits the Late Show with David Letterman

As most young stars today try so hard to put on a mature look, Emma seemed happy and content just being young. Guesting at the David Letterman Show to of course talk about the film, the 19-year-old radiated sheer youthfulness in her wearing a delicate nude organza Christopher Kane Fall 2009 tiered dress with a striking black trim. – Simple yet beautiful.

On her way to the show, Emma was both girlie and manly in a two tone black and pink oxford tie up shoes. Sweet!

The World Premiere of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

I already wrote something about this look a few days ago so I would not elaborate more on this vintage Ossie Clark print dress other than it still having that magical effect. But if you want to see how this great look turned in to a disastrous one, check my article here.

Well, which among these looks do you like best?

Emma Watson fashion hit and fashion malfunction experience

Friday, July 10th, 2009

You know what’s hard in fashion? You can go so “wow!” then suddenly go “uh-oh” in just a short while.

Take Emma Watson for example.

World Premiere - Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince - Inside Arrivals

Just before the rain poured on the world premiere of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince last Tuesday, the actress seem to have brought sunshine in the crowd looking so divine and angelic in her vintage Ossie Clark print dress.

Like really, wow! I have always been keen to young celebrities looking trampy and old with their looks, but this one is just heavenly. This is the kind of dress that really speaks of not a girl not yet a woman.

emma-watson1

Unfortunately, as weather turned bad that event, the oh-so wow look turned uh-oh and she had to be rescued “after hoisting a drenched dress with a split that flashed her beige knickers to the young crowd after a gust of wind.”

Poor Emma. Well at least she still looked dazzling rain or shine.

Beyoncé Knowles nails the hair but flops the frock

beyonce-obsessed

I have always loved Beyoncé Knowles; whether it’s because of her talent, her fashion sense, or just her being her, she definitely is one of those celebrities I love to look at over and over again.

However, attending the Cinema Society and MCM screening of her latest flick, Obsessed, I’m actually a bit apprehensive with B’s look. Oh well the hair was absolutely fabulous – straight and sleek does really well for the singer – and to-die for. But the frock is actually another story.

In what is apparently another House of Deron creation, I wonder if anybody would get too excited with this short skirt with a train. Like, hello?! A short skirt and a train?! You must be kidding me.

I’m sorry B, I so love you but this dress really has to go!

Ali Larter is okay… just okay

Friday, April 24th, 2009

ali-larter-obsessed

You know what they all say about “okay” in fashion; if it’s not a hit and not a miss, it’s okay – it’s just okay. And ‘okay’ is actually synonymous to ‘forgettable’.

Just like what Ali Larter has here at the Cinema Society and MCM screening of “Obsessed”. – Okay… just okay.

Well hit wise, there’s not much in the look that’s so ‘wow’-worthy. Was it fabulous, no. was it a standout, no. But was it that bad, definitely not. Although I must say the hair do was a bit to outdated and the metallic was quite so yesterday, I can’t really say this one’s a certified, celebrity fashion miss.

As I said, it’s okay. But it’s neither something people would go crazy about nor something that would elicit any review at all.

Oh well, can we go to the next look!

17 Again LA Premier Red Carpet, Parts 5

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

So here is the last installment of our 17 Again LA Premier coverage.

tiya-sircar

Tiya Sircar

Tiya (as Samantha in the movie) should go hang around with Keke sometime and ask her for some fashion tips. Her coral and purple dress simply did not do anything to compliment her gorgeous brown skin color. Girl, stay away from violet. And what’s with the print? It’s so uncoordinated that I can’t even call it a pattern. But kudos to her gorgeous Christian Dior wedges (though she should get one in another color), which looked cute on her feet.

17 Again LA Premier Red Carpet, Parts 4

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

The 17 Again premiere was a toast to Teen Hollywood as they rallied together to support the movie. Here are some of them who showed support to Zac Efron’s flick:

keke-palmer

Keke Palmer

Keke, Corbin’s co-star in his movie Jump In, also graced the premier in a cute pastel pink strapless dress (did she and Vanessa plan their outfits together?), accessorized with a black sash at the waist with an origami bow. Her dress had subtle geometric shapes design in it (look at it closely), which was complemented by the black sash and black slingbacks. She opted for a simple hairstyle with pulled back ponytail. Now this outfit is really nice! It complimented her color very well.

17 Again LA Premier Red Carpet, Part 3

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

As most of you must know by now, there are two generations shown in the movie, the older generation (with Matthew Perry) and the younger generation (with Zac Efron).

Now that we’ve taken a look at the lead star and the rest of his little friends, let’s have a look at his 17 Again (older) co-stars, shall we?

leslie-mann

Leslie Mann

For this premier, it seemed like the stars were queuing up at Zac Posen’s, and co-star Leslie Mann (as Scarlett O’Donell) is no exception. She chose a cream-colored strapless dress, with a ruffled neckline. While the dress length is quite appropriate being neither too short nor too long, I hate to say this, but it looked a little bit like a curtain. Sorry. I guess its because of the ruffle trimming, or the color, or event the slim sash tied around the waist. But I giver her props for showing that she could still be sexy, even at her age (erm, compared to her younger co-stars and event guests), I mean, look at those legs! Nice!

melora-hardin

Melora Hardin

Aw. The LBD (little black dress, for those who do not know) is out of the closet and into the red carpet premier! But in all fairness, Melora (as Principal Jane Masterson) is one hot principal in the outfit. But I’m thinking that she showed a wee bit too much cleavage, and the strap was a wee bit too thin (if somebody accidentally tugged at her dress it would come off). However, I liked the cut with the uneven layers and look at how those diamonds glitter! But (again) her shoes were a bit too plain for her glam outfit.

17 Again LA Premier Red Carpet, Part 2

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

This premier saw not only the stars, but also previous co-stars of the 17 Again ensemble. Aside from Vanessa Hudgens, Zac’s co-star in High School Musical (and his girlfriend in real life), some other co-stars hit it there too. Let’s take a look:

amanda-bynes

Amanda Bynes

Zac’s Hairspray co-star, Amanda Bynes, high-tailed to the event in a little black dress. And when I say little, I mean little. The actress had on a sleeveless micro mini paired off with platforms. Hmmmm…so what do you think? For me, this outfit seemed a bit too safe compared to what the other actresses had on. It’s cute, but it did not give off a “wow” factor.
