Mimi or Mandy? – Bigger, Better?!

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

Somebody’s not just been partying during the holidays but has (also) probably been eating her heart out as well. And nope, I won’t be putting words in your mouth this time. For a change I will let you decide who among these two celebs is ‘unusually’ fit after the holidays. It is after all a new year, so we might as well give a good kick off for our versus edition of the year 2008.

Celebrity Fashion Watch 2007 Recap Part 2

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

First of all, I’d like to extend my warmest greetings to one and all; Merry Christmas! I know that’s a little bit delayed but better late than never, right?

Anyway, as I’ve mentioned on my previous post, we will be having more backtracks here in Celebrity Fashion Watch. Let’s recall some of the posts that made my blogging “career memorable.

oscar-tuxedo.JPG

There were the men who gave color and spice in this utterly feminine inclined blog; the so-called “crushes through Beautiful Man of the Week. From actors to a boxer to an athlete, these are the men that made bang in this blog. And though I still have to figure out the qualifications (aside from them being a personal crush) for this category, the bottom line is that this blog would not be as it is without those sexy and H-O-T men!

Two street looks of LiLo

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

Aside from Beyonce Knowles and Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan would probably be one of my favorite fashion icons in Hollywood nowadays. Well despite all the controversies and scandals that this young singer and actress is going through, LiLo, as she is also known, has this sense of fashion that still remains sassy, unconventional, and edgy.

The Shade of Green with Jess and Mary

Friday, December 7th, 2007

jess-and-mary-j-in-green.JPG

Yes, I just said in my previous post that I am not a fan of green until that fabulous emerald gown of Beyonce. Here’s an added reason why I’m starting to look at another side of the shade. But since there are two of them that are sporting the same frock, why not we just decide who carries the frock best.

Okay, okay… I know there is a little bias here ‘coz admittedly, I am one big fan of Jessica Alba. But for the sake of comparison, I will try to be really objective on this one.

Well attending the Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer premiere in Mexico City, Jessica sure glittered even without the glitters of loud jewelry with her Alexander McQueen flowing gown. No other words to describe the look but breathtaking.

I also believe that the lack of jewels and the clean hairdo touted the actress’ assets more; and those are her face and figure. And I think that brought this look its drooling factor.

On the other hand, Mary J. Blige’s sweeping green gown sure swept everybody’s attention during the Movie Rocks red carpet. Contrary to Jessica Alba’s sans jewel look, the singer accentuated her get-up with big, sparkling gold and emerald jewelry. I guess on this case, it is the blings that carried the look and not the gown. If I may add, I think the hair also served its purpose to match those gold necklace and cuffs.

The verdict? Well I really did try to be very objective and fair on my judgment. But what can I do? I like it the simple way. Need I say more?

Keira Makes a Comeback

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

versus-keira.jpg

After that deadful and disastrous look of Keira Knightley at the UK premiere of “Atonement, the actress makes a comeback to avenge herself and her fashion statement with this classic and sophisticated frock she sported at the Cinema Society and Chanel Beaute “Atonement screening after party in New York City.

Compared to first mentioned event, where Keira looked so pale and all bones, this time around, she seems to have added meat and color at the right places. Well I could be wrong and just take credit with the frock that successfully flattered her built and frame. I guess black can never go wrong in putting a touch of glamour in even a simple cut dress.

I would definitely choose this simple and chic look over the little boy zombie look!

Paris or Britney?

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

Well we all know that both pop princess Britney Spears and hotel heiress Paris Hilton share a common bond and a ‘special friendship;’ well both love to party and both of them had their pieces of controversies this year.

However, I think the similarities of these two celebs only stops there. As both of them attended the Scandinavian Mansion of Style in Los Angeles, one can definitely draw the line between what’s sexy and what is whore-y.

Paris Hilton

This is sexy: Paris Hilton in her plaid mini dress and opaque tights. The look speaks so much of sensuality and sexiness. I don’t know, but I’m really mesmerized with this look of Paris’. There’s that smile that truly captivates, and a look that’s so mysterious, she keeps you guessing. One could not help but give an “Ah….

Britney Spears

This is whore-y: Britney Spears in her little black dress with a choking neck accessory. I don’t know why Brit seems to have this penchant for possible “upskirt incidents frocks, is this her way for getting attention? I guess respect really begets respect, and I think Brit should start respecting herself first to regain the respect of the public.

Sigh… I guess that’s how life goes in Hollywood; you captivate, you aggravate.

Skirt-to-Skirt

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

Well we have seen stars battle it out for the cutest coats this season; you’ve seen how the Olsen twins compete with their versions of the white dress. This time it is battle of the loud and big skirts in today’s versus edition of Celebrity Fashion Watch.

So who between singer Lily Allen’s and supermodel Naomi Campbell’s frocks is an ultra standout? Which one do you think “outskirts the other? Get ready as this is going to be more below the belt…

balloon.jpg

On the left corner: Attending the British Fashion Awards in London, is Lily Allen’s Tinker Bell-inspired pink dress that’s really adorable and charming; well that is for the lack of better words to describe the frock.

The secret here is the dress’ skirt that speaks so much youthfulness you’d think Lily’s attending a children’s party or a ballet presentation. But seriously, I like the pink and I like the skirt if only for its cuteness.

On the right corner: Let get ready to land with Naomi Campbell’s balloon-y skirt at the Marie Claire Prix de la Mode ceremony in Madrid.

Well the supermodel definitely exudes that aura of uber-sophistication; that’s something nobody can question. However, I just think the frock’s skirt looks more like a parachute than a skirt; it’s just too heavy to look at. By the way, maybe Naomi could ditch the dead animal, too.

So which skirt do you think is a winner? Is it the charming and cute one of Lily or the sophisticated one of Naomi?

Their Versions of the White

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

Well after the back to back white dress drama of celebrity twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, here’s another back-to-back-to-back versions of white coats. Yep, it’s coat time once again here on Celebrity Fashion Watch.

Today, it’s a battle of the most elegant coat with Katherine Heigl, Kristine Bell, and Liv Tyler.

Two of a Different Kind

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

Since it seems that we’ve all been so used to seeing the Olsen sisters in their worst[s] – stinky-looking hair and dirty raccoon eyes which they call smoky. It is kind of refreshing (and a relief) to see them in a clean and decent look.

olsens.JPG

Arriving at the Thursday night’s 7th on Sale gala, Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen looked so much better with their carefully done hair and properly applied make-ups. With their versions of the white dress, we can’t seem to help but make some comparisons.

Kate VS Fergie

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

It’s versus time again. Since it is the season to get some human warmth and warm clothes, let’s see which coat you would wear for the winter.

Who among actress Kate Hudson and singer Fergie wears the better coat?

Fergie vs Kate

Attending the Selfridges department store launch party in London, Kate kept herself warm with this monochromatic slate coat. Although it looked a bit boyish, the coat would definitely be perfect for those who want to make a statement and stand out. But of course one would also need a lot of confidence in order to pull out this kind of look just like Kate.

On the other hand Fergie’s military coat is an absolute eye-catcher. Wear it on evening affairs or just casual strolling, and it would fit in on any occasions this cold season.

So if I were to choose which coat to wear this winter, it’s no question, I’ll get Fergie’s – chic and sophisticated all in one!

Get the same winter-white, military-inspired coat of Fergie at www.BurlingtonCoatFactory.com for $209.99.

Two Words

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Fashion would probably be the reason why Hollywood is lively and colorful. With its celebrity hits and misses, people can’t seem to get enough of it.

For this entry, it’s all about love it and dump it with Elizabeth Hurley’s wow dress and Emmy Rossum’s uncanny frock. Two words; fabulous and ridiculous.

Elizabeth Hurley

Super. I guess no other words can describe this jaw dropping Packham designed ivory chiffon dress that Liz wore during the New York Flagship Chopard Boutique opening. And no, it’s not (just) because of the cleavage but it’s the way the frock hugged and flattered Liz’ assets. It’s nothing but sheer elegance. I am totally enthralled by the look.

Emmy Rossum

While I am all praises with Elizabeth Hurley’s dress, it’s another story for Emmy Rossum’s WAISTful frock she wore at the Tao anniversary party in Las Vegas. It’s cool that her waist looked so small, but it’s disastrous emphasizing the (big) chest which makes everything out of proportion! Drop the frock Ems and choose a better one.

Love it, hate it. Well I guess I should live by the rollercoaster of emotions that celebrity fashion brings.

Back VS Back

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

It is battle of the backs for today’s versus entry. Obviously here’s another pair of stars who probably were thinking the same. It’s bootylicious babe, Beyoncé Knowles versus R&B goddess Ciara vying for the “Who Wears Better Award on this bare-back sequined gown.

beyonce-vs-ciara.JPG

So whose back look better? Whose curves’ sexier? Is it Beyoncé in her Roberto Cavalli gown at a Grammy after party last February or Ciara’s dramatic glittering black gown in a party at Monaco recently?

Well if I have to make a choice, it would definitely be Beyoncé. The gown complimented her assets perfectly; emphasizing those toned back and sexy booty. While Ciara’s made her look skinny and sick. Okay, I guess my basis here is the back… I love Beyoncé’s back, I’d probably trade everything to have it!

Oh well, bottom line is, frocks should bring out the best in you and not the other way around…

Cutting Age

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

No, that wasn’t misspelled. This isn’t about that iceskating movie. This is Celebrity Fashion Watch’s match of the celebs who wanted to cut their ages. No, they aren’t old old but let’s just say they’re those you cannot call young either.

Who’s successful? Who’s a failure? Let’s see..

Glitters

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

We all seem to have been used to seeing stars in parties, the red carpets, and billboards that when we see them (or see a picture of them) living a life of a normal person (e.g. strolling around the streets, shopping) we tend to be a bit fascinated looking at them sans the make-ups and the glittering gowns.

Well of course no matter how they try to dress up and act casually, being stars that they are, they will always stand out in the public.

For today’s entry, it’s stars versus stars on the streets. Let’s see who among these stars still look fab despite the casualness.

Which Jessica Alba Look Do You Like Most?

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

Note: This content is exclusive for Celebrity Fashion Watch readers. If you are reading this on a different site, then this is stolen!

It was not until I took over this blog and started writing reviews, rants, commentaries, whatever you call it that pertains to celeb’s latest fashion hits and misses that I learned that I am a fan of Jessica Alba. Well you can just count number of posts I had centered on her unique, glamorous, and chic looks.

jessica-alba-looks.jpg

And although I have been purposely trying to avoid doing one more entry about her, there are things that are just hard to avoid. With these last three events that Jessica Alba attended, I could not decide which look suits her best. Thus, I decided to put this entry under versus. It’s Jess versus her own fashion styles here on Celebrity Fashion Watch.
