Bring on some fashion at the 135th Kentucky Derby

Monday, May 4th, 2009

I am not really familiar with Kentucky Derby as I have not yet heard of the event yet until yesterday. But seeing the looks of the stars who went to the event last Saturday (May 2), I guess the event was more than just a day of fast horses but of crazy hats as well.

Let’s go check out the celebrities who graced last weekend’s affair and judge who hit or missed the fashion scene.

Bethenny Frankel

Did I just mention crazy hats? Oh well, Bethenny’s seems to be one of the most mundane out their. No style, no fashion, just plain ‘ol boring hat. The strange pantsuit didn’t help either. With or without the hat, this look is a definite fashion miss!

Brooke Shields

Looking divine in a white bow dress with plunging neckline that’s just oh-lala, Brooke Shields is one sight to behold that day –except that her cobalt netted hat is somehow lost in the overall look. Well creative it is, but fabulous, oh-so not!

Gabrielle Union

Talk about fashion coherence and glam, Gabrielle Union sure did bring it on the Kentucky Derby. While a little black dress seems off for a day event, I must say I am impressed how she pulled this look off.

Kim Kardashian

Putting h-o-t on a very hot Saturday, Kim Kardashian was a vixen in her curve-hugging and cleavage-baring tight white dress, Louboutin high heels and of course the hat that added more in the TV personality’s sexiness. Now I’m not really a fan of Kim but I admit the lady knows her assets too well she need not have to literally flaunt it (read: more skin and more skin).

LeAnn Rimes

Singing the national anthem at the event, LeAnn Rimes would probably be one of the most boring and uninteresting looks of the day. Yawn!

Okay, so who do you think had the most interesting look of the day?

Victoria Beckham: A Fashion Angel, Or What?!

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

Fashion would always seem to be a very subjective matter; what’s a hit for me may be a miss for some and vice versa.

Take for example Victoria Beckham. While I certainly love this former Spice Girls’ sense of style, some people just don’t think the same. In fact, Posh Spice, as she’s also popularly known, has made it to several worst dressers list. But here in Celebrity Fashion Watch, I guess she’ll always be on my top 10.

However, promoting her new fragrance, Beckham Signature, at London department store Harvey Nichols, I am quite torn as to liking or hating her look.

Clad in a body hugging, fur-trimmed white dress and metallic silver heels, the look is basically so Victoria, posh and classy. That is, if it has not been for that fur on her back.

What is Vic trying to present, an angel or what?!

I just don’t understand this look.

Brittany Murphy is Summer Chic in White

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

Brittany Murphy

White is just right.

Although that may not be always true in celebrity fashion, Brittany Murphy proves that it only takes a white ensemble to get that summer chic look.

Kim Kardashian goes white and decent

Monday, May 26th, 2008

Kim Kardashian

Well maybe we can think again of the word decent (as that falls to be subjective) as with Kim Kardashian’s voluptuousness, any look is hard to call decent.

Hosting the 2008 White Party at Whitehouse in New York, the media personality dons on a white fitting dress paired with silver footwear.

Natalie Portman in an oregami dress

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Natalie Portman

If you are one of those who thinks white is always right when it comes to fashion, then you better think again and check out this look of actress Natalie Portman at the Cannes premiere of Che.

In Lanvin tiered ruffles and Tiffany diamonds, one wouldn’t say that the frock is ugly because it honestly isn’t. However, one wouldn’t find the dress as super fabulous either. In fact, the first time I saw it I thought Natalie Portman has gone crazy wearing an oregami dress. But I look again and realized it really isn’t oregami, it’s just a dress that’s probably inspired by a flock of seagulls.

Must be really heavy carrying that dress, huh, Nat?! Again, it’s not ugly. It’s just so wrong!

Anyway, now we’ve mentioned about dress, I’d like to introduce you to Brandlet, an online shopping resource dedicated to women. With its wide range of authentic brand name apparels for women like Dolce & Gabbana, Ellen Tracy, Liz Clairborne, Ralph Lauren, and more, one could surely enjoy the fashionista in them.

Goddesses in White

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

Since we’ve talked about Ashley Olsen’s breath-taking look at the Art of Elysium gala, let’s talk about two more stars who also caught everyone’s attention with their beautiful white gowns at the event. – Rachel Bilson and Ali Larter.

Rachel Bilson

Elegance and glamour would probably be the best words to describe Rachel Bilson’s bias-cut Dior satin gown. It is just so lovely. Now, with a diamond and pearl earrings from Cartier as accessories, I guess Rachel could never go wrong. I so love this look much as I like her name. **mischievous smile**

Ali Larter

On the other hand, Ali Larter’s white and flowing J. Mendel gown is probably one of the best I’ve seen in Ali as I really adore long flowing gowns; especially in whites. Well the big flower on her belly can actually go and would be better with… uhm… ribbons?! Nah, bottom line is that Ali looks beautiful with the gown, and that’s all that matters.
