Heath Ledger: An Actor to Remember

“Actor Heath Ledger was found dead in a downtown New York City apartment on Tuesday, January 22, 2008. Prescription sleeping pills were reportedly found scattered at the scene.�

His was a sudden death, a shocker to most people, especially to fans like me. For this (early) edition of Beautiful Man of the Week, let’s try to look back as we bid our farewell to a beautiful and wonderful actor, Heath Ledger.

Heathcliff Andrew Ledger, born April 4, 1979 in Perth, Western Australia was an Academy Award-nominated actor. He is best remembered in his critically-acclaimed role in Brokeback Mountain.

Heath really has his heart into acting. At 16, he had an early graduation exam so he can leave school and pursue an acting career. His film debut was in 1007 through an Australian movie entitled, Blackrock. It was in 1999 however that Heath hit international fame (as far as my being a fan is concern) through a teen comedy, 10 Things I Hate About You with Julia Stiles.

He then starred in various films like The Patriot, Monster’s Ball, A Knight’s Tale, and Ned Kelly. For his superb talent in acting, he was one of Australian GQ’s Men of the Year receiver for acting in 2003.

It was in 2005 that Heath got his first Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in his performance in Brokeback Mountain.

Heath finished filming The Dark Knight, an upcoming Batman sequel where he plays The Joker.

With his gorgeous and hunky look, Heath has had various relationships from famous Hollywood names like Naomi Watts, Lisa Zane, and Heather Graham. He later on got engaged to actress, Michelle Williams whom he had a daughter named Matilda Rose. The two ended their relationship in August 2007.

In January 22, 2008, the 28-year old actor was found dead in his apartment possibly due to drug overdose.

We will miss you, Heath…
