Young and Beautiful at the 11th Annual Young Hollywood Awards (Part 2)

by

As we’ve seen from the previous post, being young and beautiful in Hollywood sure seems to be the best thing in this world. However, in the celebrity fashion side, being young and beautiful does not mean an easy hit and nods from fashion critics.

Today, let’s continue with our 11th Annual Young Hollywood Awards celebrity fashion coverage.

Evan Rachel Wood

evan-rachel-wood

Now, this is probably one of my favorite looks at the event. The black and silver Gucci Fall 2009 dress is something that only a young and beautiful Hollywood personality like Evan Rachel Wood can give justice. I love the spunky feel of the overall look that anybody would find it really hard to ignore.

Jaime Chung

jamie-chung

With Jaime Chung’s cute and charming face, I wonder why she didn’t play her assets well and settled for this boring strapless frock. This ain’t giving justice to her being young and beautiful in Hollywood. Not even the pair of shoes is interesting.

Katherine McPhee

katharine-mcphee

I’ve always thought of red as exuding with class, elegance, and sophistication. This red Reem Acra Resort 2009 silk satin strapless cocktail dress that Katharine McPhee wore is actually no different to that. I, however think the singer should go experiment more on her looks and enjoy being young and beautiful. This one seems too safe for her.

LaLa Vazquez

lala-vazquez

Another so-so look in the event is LaLa Vazquez in her Alexander Wang denim and velvet corset top. I actually have been looking for something striking in this look but nothing really that interest me. It’s not ugly, but not spectacular either.

Catch the last installment of this event on the next post.

Young and Beautiful at the 11th Annual Young Hollywood Awards

by

Many people would die to be in Hollywood. In fact, many already did still wanting to earn a spot in that limelight but still got nothing. And so I say, lucky are those stars, who at their young age have already been enjoying the life and glitters to be in Hollywood.

And so for Sunday’s 11th Annual Young Hollywood Awards, let’s all go have a celebrity fashion check out (and be envious) with the young and beautiful personalities who attended the event.

Annalyne McCord

annalynne-mccord

Clad in a black strapless number with sleek waves and red lips, Annalyne McCord sure made a ‘fierce’ appearance in the event. Although the frock is anything but unusual, I must say she pulled this off using sheer confidence and spunky attitude.

Bai Ling

bai-ling

I’m never really a fan of Bai Ling’s styles, but this one here sure gets a nod from me. It’s not everyday that we see this actress in this subtle and pleasing-in-the-eye look, so I’m definitely giving this a hit remark!

Bar Rafaeli

bar-rafaeli

Pink frocks are usually okay and safe in this kind of event. I guess this is what Bar Rafaeli had in mind as she donned on this one shoulder Notte by Marchesa hot pink mini dress. It’s not that eye-catching but it’s not something you’d really call a miss. So-so, I guess?

Catherine Hardwicke

catherine-hardwicke

Yeah, she’s not that young like young but unarguably, Catherine Hardwicke has captured the hearts of the youngs. Clad in a simple LBD, we’re quite sure her presence is enough for the fashion freaks like me.

Eva Marcille

eva-marcille

I have no doubt Eva Marcille can pull off this ivory halter neck gown she had. White maybe a safe choice but this one’s design is a bit tricky.

We’ll have more of these stars on our next post.

Megan Fox is ultra glam at “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” World Premiere

by

megan-fox1

Although she’s someone I’ve always thought to be one of those most knock out sizzling beauties in Hollywood, in terms of celebrity fashion, I never really expected Megan Fox to be able to pull off an ultra glam look. Not that she can’t, it’s just that she’s always been on the edgy and foxy side of fashion.

However, seeing her look at the world premiere of “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” in Japan last night (June 8), I absolutely was so in awe!

Why I’ve never seen her this glamorous and fabulous!

The regal satin purple Donna Karan gown just brought out the best and the sexiest in her.

Blogging here in Celebrity Fashion Watch for years now, I must say seeing stars stand out with their glam gowns is not unusual anymore. But this look here of Megan just gets me raving. I super adore it! And nope, it’s not something I would want to wear for myself, it’s something I know Megan really owned and embrace. This should be the look for her.

I love how everything in this look worked perfectly for the actress – the hair, the make-up, the frock, the Stuart Weitzman “Frontpage” platform pumps, the golden bangles, and most of all, the legs. Everything’s just perfect.

Now with Megan setting this ultra high celebrity fashion standard for herself, I bet she’d all be in pressure keeping up or even do better with this already great look. We just hope she won’t ever switch back into that look she had at the MTV Movie Awards or I would really be disappointed.

Meanwhile, if you want to see more of Megan, click on the thumbnails after the jump to see larger photos.

Glamour Women of the Year Awards: The Bold in Colors

by

If we have been bored to death by most of the attendees with their monochromes celebrity fashion in our previous post, let’s see if these stars we have here would impress us as they go the opposite wearing frocks in daring and bold colors.

Amanda Seyfried

amanda-seyfried

Wearing a multi-coloured satin dress and a sassy pair of Gladiator heels, the Mama Mia star is actually quite an awkward sight to see. You see I love her sexy curls and moody make-up but I’m having quite an issue with the frock. ‘Guess too much color and patterns make this bit of an eyesore.

Michelle Ryan

michelle-ryan

Now this look of Michelle Ryan is quite the opposite to Amanda’s; I love the hot pink maxi dress but the hair and the make-up is just awful. This look would’ve been a hit with a more glamorous ‘do and subtle make-up.

Fearne Cotton

fearne-cotton

Fierce in her rich red frock with tiered skirt, Fearne sure was a picture of 80’s fashion and style. I actually like the play of color here; the shoes, the bag, and the frock were matched perfectly. Even her hair and make-up coordinated the look, too.

Katy Perry

katy-perry

If it’s bold and daring we are talking about at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards, Katy Perry would definitely be on the top list. Her bright blue silk mini dress paired with red multi-strap platform heels is something anybody can hardly miss. I may not be crazy over Katy’s style but I must give credit to her fashion attitude.

Sarah Webb

sarah-webb

Although I have nothing against blue, I think this blue frock Sarah Webb had at the event is something I really won’t call a hit. Could be the length, could be the color itself, but whatever it is, it sure is giving the look a dowdy feel.

I guess here we’ve learned that bold colors, too wouldn’t be enough to make a celebrity fashion a hit.

Glamour Women of the Year Awards: The Monochromes

by

Organized by Glamour magazine, the Glamour Women of the Year Awards “recognize women in the public eye”. This year, the event took place at Berkeley Square Gardens in London, England.

And since the event is all about glamour and women, expect another celebrity fashion battle. Unfortunately, some attendees didn’t seem to take the ‘battle’ too seriously as they opted to be on the safe side of the war zone wearing monochrome frocks. Well on second thought, monochromes can be not that ‘safe’ too.

Let’s check out the looks at Glamour’s event.

Adele

adele

In an all-black look, the night’s UK Solo Artist of the Year awardee, was wise enough to break the monotone in her look by adding up an interesting pair of gold earrings. While I see nothing wrong in Adele’s look here, I must say that this one’s a bit opera-ish.

Becki Newton

becki-newton

Winning Comedy Actress of the Year Award, people may have been expecting too much from Becki Newton. However, with this black strapless frock with white polka dots, I don’t think spectators were satisfied at all. Boring!

Kylie Minogue

kylie-minogue

Now this is what I mean with monochrome with attitude. Kylie sure deserves to be called Woman of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year; why this look says it all!

Estelle

estelle

Another disappointment I may say for the night is Estelle who opted to go subtle in her fashion wearing a white shell patterned dress from Stella McCartney. Winning the Editor’s Special Award, this look is just too safe…yawn!

Rachel Stevens

rachel-stevens

I was once a huge SClub7 fan, so can’t blame me to be this excited seeing Rachel Stevens. Unfortunately, it’s quite disappointing to see her in this unfabulous off-white chiffon dress. This may not be dowdy at all, but still, we would want to see her in something trendy and bold.

Sigh, among these looks, Kylie’s the only one I think that really did some effort.

2009 MTV Movie Awards: The Styles, The Looks, and The Stars (Part 3)

by

Now here we are in our third installment of the styles, looks, and stars at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards. Enjoy the looks and the read!

Leighton Meester

leighton-meester

I always had the impression that little black dresses are somehow predictable and boring already. But thanks to Leighton Meester, her Emilio De La Morena cut-out dress has taken LBD to a new edge.

Megan Fox

megan-fox

Megan will always have this appeal any man could not resist. However, I don’t know if it’s just me but her in a Dolce&Gabbana black and gold strapless brocade cocktail dress and slick-backed hair looked really weird. So weird I think it’s ugly.

Miley Cyrus

miley-cyrus

I don’t know about what you think of Miley’s look but personally I think her Moschino Cheap and Chic nude silk cowl neck halter dress is too formal for the event. This is supposed to be her event – people her age, fun, hip, playful – but it looks like there wasn’t much fun and energy in this look.

Rumer Willis

rumer-willis

Wearing a green geometric print dress, Rumer Willis’s look failed to actually surprise and impress me. This is one is another so-so look from the actress.

Sandra Bullock

sandra-bullock

There’s just one thing that crossed my mind seeing Sandra here: what are those black tights doing in May?

Sienna Miller

sienna-miller

In her teal sequined dress, Sienna Miller obviously had fun with her look. Again, I may not be a fan over sequined frocks but seeing stars having fun wearing it makes me change my mind.

Vanessa Hudgens

vanessa-hudgens

I sure am a huge Vanessa H fan but I honestly think this orange Max Azria dress is just not for her. You know, she doesn’t have that stunning height and curves enough to pull off this look. I’m sorry but this one’s a mess.

Now that wraps up our 2009 MTV Movie Awards celebrity fashion coverage. Tell me what you think about it.

2009 MTV Movie Awards: The Styles, The Looks, and The Stars

by

Show time again everyone!

With the 2009 MTV Awards held Sunday night (May 31) at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California stars have once again convened to battle it out not just for the night’s trophies but for hit styles and looks as well. Of course this means a job for us here in Celebrity Fashion Watch.

So shall check out the night’s looks?

Ashley Greene

ashley-greene

With all the Twilight fad going around, I wouldn’t doubt the vampire look would be the ‘in’ thing next season. And so playing along with her character, Ashley Greene was all vampiresque in her black and white dress and bright yellow clutch.

While the frock is no special nor fab at all, the actress’ ‘do is one head-turner in a way I could not decide as to whether good or bad.

Ashley Tisdale

ashley-tisdale

Saying adios to her famous blonde ‘do, Ashley wowed everyone at the event in her brunette look well complimented with her purple, leather mini-dress with lots of heavy jewelry and peep-toe cutout ankle boots. I just love this look; simple yet so hard to miss!

Audrina Patridge

audrina-patridge

Sporting on a one-shoulder sequin mini dress, Audrina Patridge is literally ‘sparkling’ arriving at the event. And although I’m not really a huge fan for sequined frocks, I guess Audrina managed to pull this off well.

Catherine Hardwicke

catherine-hardwicke

Clad in a cute yellow top with a black pencil skirt, the Twilight director was one of those charming looks I’ve seen in the event. I love the look’s casual feel with a touch of glamour. – Sweet and chic.

More of the styles and looks at the 2009 MTV Awards on the next post.

2009 MTV Movie Awards: The Styles, The Looks, and The Stars (Part 2)

by

The previous post showed you the looks of Ashley Greene, Ashley Tisdale, Audrina Patridge, and director Catherine Hardwicke at Sunday night’s 2009 MTV Awards. Today, let’s go check out more from the night’s looks.

Hayden Panettiere

Hayden Panettiere at MTV Movie Awards

Showing the playful side in her, the Heroes star arrived at the event in a charming silk taffeta cowl-neck frock and satin peep-toe sandals. With her hair neatly done and that smile that’s just infectious, it’s just hard to ignore Hayden’s presence and charisma.

Jaime Chung

jaime-chung

Probably one of my favorite looks of the night, Jaime Chung arrived at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards in a charming and colorful minidress. Why I love the look? Well this is MTV and not the Grammy’s. Ain’t it great to see stars get laid back in their looks in an awards event just for once?

Keke Palmer

keke-palmer

I definitely am a huge peach fan. And so seeing Keke Palmer in this sexy peach frock, I just couldn’t help but smile in appreciation. Unfortunately, the love I have for her dress does not extend to loving her hair and shoes. Sorry but I don’t see any coordination here.

Lauren Conrad

lauren-conrad

One reason why I love watching stars at any MTV event is because they all can have fun with what they wear. Unfortunately, Lauren Conrad’s Moschino red and navy floral print sleeveless dress with a ruffled hem and a Chrisitian Loubotin sandals doesn’t seem to show much of the actress having fun with her look. Whether she has just embraced her goth side or what, this just isn’t Lauren at her best.

LeAnn Rimes

leann-rimes1

I don’t know if LeAnn’s just too serious with trying to look glam but her dramatic, textured black gown is just too hard to appreciate in an MTV event.

Beautiful Man of the Week: Zac Efron

by

Well I just watched Zac Efron’s latest flick, “17 Again”. And while I’m a bit disappointed about the movie – good plot bad execution – I don’t think I could say the same to its main actor, Zac. Why had it not been for the Disney star, I don’t really think the movie would have such appeal to its audience.

So for this matter, I am making Zac this week’s Celebrity Fashion Watch’s Beautiful Man.

Born Zachary David Alexander Efron on October 18, 1987, Zac is arguably the biggest teen star in America right now. Playing Troy Bolton in Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical, Zac has easily made himself the “poster boy for tweenyboppers” making young girls swoon over him.

Although he admittedly described himself as not academically gifted, Zac has apparently compensated that with his talent in acting, singing, and dancing. Proof of this are his performances in plays like Gypsy, Peter Pan, Or The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up, Little Shop of Horrors, and The Music Man. For these, he was then recommended by his drama teacher to an agent in Los Angeles. The rest is of course what you call as history.

Of course talent aside, Zac’s good looks and good taste in fashion makes him all the more appealing to his young women fans.

shinjuku-piccadilly-on-may-16-2009-in-tokyo-japan

Here you see him pleasantly casual greeting his Japanese fans for the “17 Again” stage greeting at Shinjuku Piccadilly in Tokyo.

narita-international-airport

Even without trying he still does not seize to make fans swoon over him. Just take a look at him here as he arrived at the Narita International Airport.

madrid-spain

Hip and trendy, eh? That’s what he managed to pull off at his movie’s photocall in Madrid, Spain.

premiere

What can you say of this suave look? Yum!

Oh well, he sure is good looking!

And that is our Beautiful Man of the Week.

Hits and Misses at amfar’s 16th annual Cinema Against AIDS (Part 2)

by

We’ve all been witnesses to the looks of Claudia Schiffer, Diane Kruger, Diane Von Teese, Elizabeth Hurley, and Hayden Panettiere at Thursday’s amfar’s 16th annual Cinema Against AIDS Benefit. Now let’s check out the other looks that night.

Shall we?

Paris Hilton

paris-hilton

Seemingly unaware that she came to the event quite overly, Paris Hilton was one eyecatcher (take that in a bad way) with her Basil Soda Spring 2009 Couture gown. Come on Paris, the gown’s embellishments should’ve been enough; the headband, necklace, and bracelet aren’t necessary.

Peaches Geldof

peaches-geldof

Looking like a forest nymph – if not for those smoky scary eyes – socialite Peaches Geldof ought to teach Paris what minimal, if not sans, accessories for an embellished gown. Yeah, this could’ve really been a hit if only Peaches downplayed the make-up department.

Sharon Stone

sharon-stone

With her asymmetrical Dior gown, with silver strappy Dior heels, Sharon Stone has definitely not looked this better. This look here showed that there’s more than the frock and jewels in getting the audience’s attention; there has to be that sense of character and wisdom acquired through time and experience.

Ziyi Zhang

ziyi-zhang

In an ethereal nude gown, Ziyi Zhang sure has captivated the audience not for the grandeur of her look but for the innate charm and grace that she possesses. Contrary to other personalities who arrived in the event overly accessorized to get the people’s attention, the actress proved less is actually more.

Well that completes this batch of amfar’s 16th annual Cinema Against AIDS Benefit looks. Who do you think had the best look and who do you think otherwise?

Hits and Misses at amfar’s 16th annual Cinema Against AIDS

by

Basically there are three main reasons why stars gather and party; to celebrate, to be charitable, and of course to dress up. So for amfar’s 16th annual Cinema Against AIDS Benefit, some of Hollywood’s personalities have convened for all three reasons. But of course, we here in Celebrity Fashion Watch is more concern on the third reason.

Now are we ready to check out the looks at Thursday’s affair.

Claudia Schiffer

claudia-schiffer1

Mixing elegance with some charm, Claudia Schiffer was a darling with her tulle black bustier gown from Dolce & Gabbana. While I actually love the gown –I’m a sucker for charming gowns like this – the hairdo here is actually an issue for me.

Diane Kruger

diane-kruger

Yeah white seems to be always right when it comes to fashion but the white Chanel Spring 2009 Couture ensemble that Diane Kruger had at the event is actually not so right in my vocabulary of a classic fashion hit. On second thought, I guess I must give credit to the look’s daringness and novelty.

Dita Von Teese

dita-von-teese

In a Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2009 Couture dress, Dita Von Teese definitely owned this look looking statuesque and oh so glamorous! I bet nobody could pull off this look the way Dita did.

Elizabeth Hurley

elizabeth-hurley1

Looking ethereal in her periwinkle floor-length gown, Elizabeth Hurley is indeed one of those who can pull off elegance effortlessly.

Hayden Panettiere

hayden-panettiere

I’m quite disappointed with Hayden’s look at the event. Surely, someone could’ve told her this blush silk chiffon Marchesa dress ain’t flattering at all.

Oh well, maybe the next batch of looks could show us something that would really put us in awe.

Paris Hilton feeling like Tinkerbell

by

paris-in-roberto-cavalli

Now before you start laughing there, I am not talking about Paris Hilton feeling like her Tinkerbell – the Chihuahua she so love to bring along everywhere before. I’m actually talking about Paris trying to be Tinkerbell the fairy.

Clad in a Roberto Cavalli floral chiffon maxi dress accessorized by diamante headband, a huge silver necklace, and multiple bracelets, Paris Hilton is actually achieving that fairy look – ethereal and breathtaking; of course that is besides looking stupid with her childish poses and all. This look she wore in one cocktail party during the 62nd Annual Cannes Film.

Why Paris Hilton is in France when she doesn’t have anything to promote for the festival is still one big mystery for me. On second thought, it probably ain’t much mystery when you think about it. Most of Hollywood’s brightest stars – not to mention the media’s attention to it – being there, of course Paris would want herself to be there!

Angelina Jolie: The Slit and The Lips

by

angelina-at-cannes

I know a lot out there are huge fans of Angelina Jolie so I must apologize in advance and tell you that I did ponder on this look she had at the premiere of “Inglourious Basterds” during the 62nd Annual Cannes Film Festival and I must be honest, I really didn’t like it!

Okay, the tea rose-colored Versace Atelier gown accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry was definitely an eye-catcher and a definite daring move from Ange as far as fashion is concern. However, I do think the slits are a bit too high in the context of Cannes Festival elegance. And while she’s been the epitome of the sexy pouty lips, having it with crimson-colored lipstick for the event over all the ‘fleshy/nude-y’ theme is somehow so out for me, if not clown-looking.

Again, I’m sorry to you fans but really, this isn’t how I picture elegance – at least on Angelina Jolie.

Stars and Looks at American Idol Season 8 Finale

by

Last Wednesday (May 20) has been a night of amazing talents and shining stars as it has been the night for announcing who America has voted for to be the season’s next American Idol.

Of course there is not much suspense with that now as we all have witnessed the surprising win of Kris Allen over his rival and early favorite, Adam Lambert. While there is no thrill to that already (although I still thrilled with the unexpected result), I guess finding out what the stars who attended that event wore is another interesting story to discuss. Excited to check those looks are? Well here they are:

Carrie Underwood

carrie-underwood

Looking pretty in pink with her jeweled chiffon Jenny Packham dress paired with Stuart Weitzman pumps matched with Swarovski clutch and John Hardy earrings, American Idol alum, Carrie Underwood undeniably charmed everyone with this charming look. Let me just say that again, charming…

Fergie

fergie

In coordination with the blue background, Fergie arrived at Wednesday’s event in an electric blue Alexander McQueen silk satin shift dress, with strappy Stuart Weitzman silver sandals, and silver bangles.

I’m actually a so-so in this look as I found nothing really stellar or worth noting of this look.

Janice Dickinson

janice-dickinson

Clad in a sequined sheath dress paired with Balenciaga black suede and leather ankle wrap heels, Janice Dickinson was just refreshing at the event. Well I’m not really sure if refreshing’s the right word to describe this look; it’s just that it’s the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw this photo.

Kara DioGuardi

kara-dioguardi

Looking dramatically glamorous in her black strapless gown the show’s fourth judge is indeed one of the unforgettable looks of the night – including her short bikini stint – if not one of the best looks.

Paula Abdul

paula-abdul

Probably one of the most pleasing views of the night is Paula Abdul in a body-hugging gold strapless number. It seems like a loooong time since I last saw Paula this fabulous. Love it!

Well, what do you think of these looks?
