For that picture, in particular - I’m going to blame the lighting. The whole thing just looks too dark, which I think probably adds to that “loney” feeling. I think it’s just a bad picture.

I think the clothing has a lot to do with the lonely look as well. I can’t pictures her blending with a crowd of people.
